Wirework Sculptor | Artisan
What words would you use to describe wire? Perhaps you’re thinking cold, or thin or utilitarian? It might seem strange, but those aren't the words that come to my mind at all. I see warmth and love and connection. These are the things that I value most. I am constantly inspired by the everyday expressions of love and human connection I see taking place all around me. Wire is the medium that I use to recreate what I see.

When I say I'm constantly inspired, I truly mean constantly. My creative mind seemingly has no “off-switch”. At least if it does, I have yet to find it. New ideas are continually popping into my brain. I love working with wire because it is so flexible, not only in terms of the forms it can make, but also in the ways it can be used to create different types of art. It truly allows my creative spirit to roam freely.

The thing I treasure most about the artistic process is the ability to create something that the viewer connects with on an emotional level. I believe that sculpture uniquely connects its viewer to the experiences and emotions that are the very essence of the human condition.

No forms are used in the process of sculpting my work. Every piece is shaped by hand allowing the figures and objects to evolve organically as each wire is wrapped or coiled into place. Great emphasis is placed on the connections created in, and by, the piece. I strive not only to forge a relationship internally within the piece itself, but also to evoke an external conversation between the piece and the viewer. For, it is these relationships that allow the viewer to connect with the piece on an emotional level.
